How to Be a Writer

Hello! Today is the first day of National Poetry Writing Month 2019. Here is my poem for today's prompt--an instructional poem.

How can I become a writer?

Should I write 1000 words each day,

Or should I count by line?

Should I write opinions and politics,

Or of running out of time?

Should I form long-winded passages,

Or should I keep it short?

Should I use semi-colons liberally,

Or as a last resort?

Forget the rest. Remember this:

If you want to be a writer, write.
